Video] 2 minutes. Basic Questions: How many whole times
does a number divide into another, and what is the
remainder? The answer here is obtained by listing
multiples of the divisor until at least one exceeds the
number to be divided. This set the stage or provides motivation
for the long division method.
- [Play
Video] 5½ minutes. Watch this video for a thought-based
mastery of the long division process with a single digit divisor..
Zeroes are introduced to show how the steps of the long division
yield the conclusions about quotients and remainders for the
division of one whole number by a smaller natural number. Buried
in the long division process is a justification for the
conclusions drawn from it. This video shows how.
- [Play
Video] 4 minutes. Watch this video for a
thought-based mastery of the long division process with a two
digit divisor.. Zeroes are introduced to show how the steps of
the long division yield the conclusions about quotients and
remainders for the division of one whole number by a smaller
natural number.
- [Play
Video] 5¾ minutes. Another example of long division
process with a two digit divisor, similar to the previous one.
