Books for Children or Teens 14 and Under
In mathematics, you may help your child learn by purchasing mathematics booklets or exercise sets which review or cover material from the grade 1 to 7 or 8 level in way that you should be able to understand. The booklets mentioned below provide UK, USA and Canadian views of what should be met in these grades. Each covers about the same range of material or exercises. Most likely you will have to read these booklets with your child and guide them through the more challenging exercises. Patience is required. Find the lessons that are easy for your child and use them to test or improve his or her skill and knowledge gradually, without haste. Just as your brothers or sisters were faster or slower than you in grasping ideas, so will be your children. Each learns at his or her own pace. The main role of these works, if your child goes to school, is to gently push the child to review ideas and skills, with gentle and encouraging feedback from you. Your child should learn that an error in one step, makes all the rest suspect. Your child should also learn to write mathematics properly - improper notation is a sign of confusion which you may be able to identify and ease. A stitch in time, saves nine. Good luck.
